Tarlac State University's delegates painted the grounds of Benguet State University with maroon and gold during the opening ceremony of the Association of State Colleges and Universities-Solid North Midyear Sports and Cultural Festival held on Tuesday (July 15), at the BSU Gymnasium in La Trinidad, Benguet.

Themed "Celebrating Athleticism, Culture, and Unity," the annual festival gathers teaching and non-teaching personnel of 25 SUCs from Regions 1, 2, 3, and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

Sports Development and Management Head Dr. Ligaya Gina Salangsang led the 250-strong TSUian delegation.

"We are grateful because we got enough support, especially from the administration. And we are well represented from the general services up to the teaching and non-teaching staff," Dr. Salangsang said in an interview.

This will be the last time Dr. Salangsang will lead TSU as the sports head. She is looking forward to the next batch of leaders to continue the passion and desire to make the TSU employees happy regarding sports participation.

Meanwhile, newly appointed Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson Dr. Shirley Agrupis greeted the festival participants through a video message.

Other SUC presidents and key officials, such as CHED Commissioner Desiderio Rana Apag III and La Trinidad Mayor Roderick Awingan, attended the opening ceremony.
