Tarlac State University's key officials, some Board of Regents members, and students attended a consultative meeting with Sen. Paolo Benigno "Bam" Aquino IV on Tuesday afternoon (July 15) at the Main AVR, before the 36th Commencement Exercises.
Senator Aquino lauded the 88 percent employability rate of the university, as recorded last year by tracer studies.
“88 percent is a good number, so that’s something we want to see across all of these schools—na lahat ng mga kabataan natin nakatanggap ng tulong mula sa kanilang kolehiyo, may trabaho pagkatapos," Senator Aquino said.
The needs and concerns of the university were laid on the table, primarily regarding facilities, subsidies, plantilla, and other resources.
He assured TSU's College of Medicine Dean, Dr. Policarpio Joves Jr., that their concerns regarding the newly established medical school, such as the 20 medical practitioners who will teach, plantilla, laboratories, and learning resources, will be addressed to ensure that the college will be equipped to serve the students better.
Moreover, Dr. Melanie Masangkay, Laboratory School principal, brought up the current situation of the TSU LS, which has neither subsidies nor vouchers from the government and only relies on the university's budget. She added that the school does not have its own building, as the students only occupy the second floor of the College of Education.
Senator Aquino served as the guest of honor and speaker during the College of Arts and Social Sciences and the College of Public Administration and Governance graduation ceremonies. (jlm/OPA)
