Manuel V. Gallego Foundation Colleges, Inc. representatives, based in Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija, visited Tarlac State University for a benchmarking activity with selected offices today (August 1) at the Engineering AVR.

The visit focused on TSU's best practices in implementing ISO standards, Philippine Quality Award-aligned systems, and instructional and curriculum quality procedures.

TSU President Dr. Arnold E. Velasco welcomed the guests and emphasized the importance of benchmarking in contributing to both institutions' success and continuous development.

Dr. Nino B. Corpuz, Office of Quality Assurance director, discussed TSU's quality framework, organizational structure, and key milestones.

He also shared the university's journey in achieving 100% Certificate of Program Compliance across all graduate and undergraduate programs.

Meanwhile, Engr. Maricar N. Banting, Quality Management Unit head, provided an overview of TSU's quality management functions, highlighting the university's attainment of ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management Systems), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management Systems), and OHSAS 18001:2007 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems) certifications in 2016, making TSU the first university in the Philippines to receive all three international standards.

She also discussed the university's best practices in controlling documented information through centralized registration, master copy management, and the proper disposal of public records by the QMU.

On the other hand, Dr. Brendalyn A. Manzano, Office of Curriculum and Instruction director, presented the office's key projects and outputs.

During the open forum, MVGFC Quality Assurance Directress Dr. Marie Angeli Primero-Reyes sought advice from Dr. Corpuz on addressing academic and non-academic instruction challenges.

"Challenges are normal, but hindi kami tumitigil in conducting coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance because we always believe that quality is everyone's responsibility," Dr. Corpuz answered.

Dr. Manzano also responded to inquiries regarding the planning and design procedures of the university's curriculum and instruction services.

Meanwhile, Engr. Banting answered questions about providing reinforcements and guidance to Document Control Coordinators (DCCs) and Alternate Document Control Coordinators (ADCCs), including the processes for revising controlled documents and accessing uncontrolled copies.

Joining Dr. Reyes in the MVGFC delegation are Engr. Kevin C. Dayag and Engr. John Paul Mercado, both TSU alumni. (jlm-OPA)
